Glenn Beck suggests Americans need to get a gun to deal with Obama and Sunstein

All of today’s posts will deal soley on sorting out the “crazies”.  It’s been a helluva week for the “crazies”.

More to come…

Crooks & Liars

[H/t Media Matters.]

Apparently Glenn Beck is planning on going out the door at Fox News with a deep, lingering slime trail behind him. He reached a new low on his show yesterday:

BECK: By the way, the U.N. is also working on a small-arms treaty — which purports to fight terrorism, but if implemented, Second Amendment proponents like me believe that it will only enforce rougher licensing requirements, create more red tape, and possibly an international gun registry. As if terrorists give a flying crap about registering their gun or their machete before they kill you.

This will do nothing but make it harder for you to get a gun. Why would you get a gun? [Points to picture of President Obama and adviser Cass Sunstein.] To prepare for tough times. That’s why.

He then went on to explain that Sunstein and Obama were apparently destroying America’s energy infrastructure by regulating coal-fired power plants out of existence — while referencing Dan Froomkin’s HuffPo piece on Sunstein … a piece that actually is all about how Sunstein has hardly been a slash-and-burn environmental regulator.

Naturally, Beck will laugh this off as just a coincidental timing thing. But given his track record, that deniability is simply no longer plausible.

Glenn Beck Responds To Meghan McCain Controversy (VIDEO)

Glenn Beck is like a festering sore on this society…someone please find the antiseptic!

The Huffington Post

Glenn Beck addressed the controversy surrounding his comments about Meghan McCain during his weekly appearance on Bill O’Reilly’s show on Friday–but did not apologize for making them.

Beck landed in hot water with the McCains after he pretended to vomit for several minutes on his radio show while watching Meghan McCain’s skin cancer awareness ad, where she appears to be naked. His routine prompted a volley of angry responses from Meghan, Cindy and John McCain, but Beck had not responded to the attacks until Friday.

Bill O’Reilly sided with Beck’s detractors in this case. “If I was Cindy McCain I’d slap the hell out of you,” he told Beck.

Beck said that she was sticking up for her daughter, and that she was “right” to do so. “I would do the same thing,” he said. He then joked that he was “helping bring attention” to skin cancer awareness by telling Meghan McCain to “cover up.”

O’Reilly said he was baffled that Beck had done such a “dopey” thing, because “you’re genuinely a nice guy.”

Beck admitted that the routine was a “juvenile bit,” but he refused to go any further. “You know what, Meghan McCain? Please,” he said. “I’ve had enough of Meghan McCain as much as she’s had enough of me.”

Did John McCain Just Threaten To Beat Up Glenn Beck?

This past Thursday, Glenn Beck made a complete and utter fool of himself by mocking Meghan McCain’s PSA ad for skin cancer by pretending to vomit each time his ” radio sidekick” mentioned Ms. McCain’s name.

Ms. McCain, the only adult in the situation, wrote Beck an stinging, yet polite  open letter which had to make him feel like two cents.  Beck hasn’t answered Ms. McCain since the letter was publicized yesterday.

The Huffington Post

Did John McCain just threaten to beat up Glenn Beck for what he said about his daughter?

Well, not really. But sort of, in an oblique way.

Let us explain. Beck’s instantly infamous reaction to Meghan McCain’s PSA for skin cancer (the sight of her bare skin caused him to mime vomiting for about five minutes straight) drew a swift and fierce response from both McCain and her mother, Cindy. On Thursday’s “John King USA,” CNN’s John King asked John McCain what he thought of the whole fracas.

“I now think I can relate more closely to Harry Truman who took some umbrage at a critic that criticized his daughter’s singing,” McCain said. “…I don’t think I should dignify that kind of behavior with a comment.”

A seemingly dispassionate reaction. But as John King put it, if “you’re a student of history and you got the Truman reference,” McCain’s comments can be seen in a rather angrier light. The senator was referring to the 1950 letter that Truman wrote to Washington Post critic
Paul Hume after the latter wrote a famously acerbic review of his daughter Margaret’s singing.

“Some day, I hope to meet you,” Truman wrote. “When that happens, you will need a new nose, a lot of beefsteak for black eyes and perhaps a supporter below.” So…watch out, Glenn Beck! John McCain wants to give you a new nose!

Follow The Leader: Beck’s Rhetoric Has Infected Fox News

Media Matters has done some thorough research on this issue…

In the wake of Glenn Beck announcing he will end his Fox News show, Media Matters demonstrates how throughout Beck’s tenure at Fox News the false, incendiary, and even violent rhetoric he pushed on his television and radio shows spread throughout the network. For Conservatives, Soros Is the New ACORN

If I recall correctly, despite the incessant vilification of ACORN from the right, all investigations and court documents show that ACORN was not guilty of the many accusations hurled at that organization…

AOL News

With ACORN now officially out of business, conservative ire has found a new focal point: billionaire George Soros.

As the one-man bank behind a plethora of liberal causes, seemingly lefty nonprofits, reviled media outlets like NPR, Democratic candidates and agitating websites like Media Matters, Soros has received an awful lot of attention in the past year, much of it from the commentators at Fox News. In fact, at Fox, Soros’ name has replaced ACORN as the new synonym for all that is wrong with the world.

The past week alone two rather significant Soros stories have made news:

Soros helped the Nazis hunt Jews?
Glenn Beck, who often speaks of Soros as a liberal “puppet master,” unleashed a three-day prolonged attack on the man last week, alleging, among other things, that Soros, who is Jewish, helped the Nazis hunt down fellow Jews during the occupation of Hungary. Those claims did not go down so well with Jewish groups.

“Glenn Beck’s description of George Soros’ actions during the Holocaust is completely inappropriate, offensive and over the top. For a political commentator or entertainer to have the audacity to say — inaccurately — that there’s a Jewish boy sending Jews to death camps, as part of a broader assault on Mr. Soros, that’s horrific,” The Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles said in a statement.

Sarah Palin staffer on Soros’ payroll?
Salon.com gleefully pointed out today that one of Sarah Palin’s staffers is, in fact, on Soros’ payroll. Randy Scheunemann, one of Palin’s foreign policy advisers, runs a D.C. consulting firm Called Orion Strategies, Salon reported, that since 2003 has been paid more than $150,000 for lobbying work by the Open Society Policy Center, one of Soros’ outfits.

As Politico’s Ben Smith points out, the Scheunemann-Soros connection really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

There’s no gotcha, and no contradiction, here. Despite Soros’s left-leaning domestic politics and his sympathies for the Palestinians — the issues that make headlines here — his biggest investment, and his historic impact, was in dismantling real Communism in Central and Eastern Europe. He backed dissidents before the Soviet Union collapsed, and anybody who spent time out there in the ’90s saw a new liberal civil society of which he was the earliest and most important underwriter. His work to undermine Burma’s brutal dictatorship is an extension of that.

In fact, as The New York Times pointed out today, Soros, the so-called puppet master, has even been used as something of a political puppet by the government of Iran, which suspects the billionaire of plotting to overthrow that nation’s government.

Still, back in the United States, it is conservatives like Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin who rail the loudest about Soros’ influence and designs on America’s future. And the heart of the critique is perhaps best summed up by Beck himself, who stated on his program that “not only does [Soros] want to bring America to her knees financially, he wants to reap obscene profits off us as well.”

Glenn Beck lashes out at the Anti-Defamation League

The batshit crazy Glenn Beck just never lets up.  He constantly doubles down when he knows he has pushed certain buttons.  The man is certifiable…

Media Matters

Glenn Beck lashed out at the Anti-Defamation League over its condemnation of his outrageous smear of George Soros as a Nazi collaborator. Beck said that the criticism of his comments was part of a “Soros-started” “smear campaign” and directed his staff to find out “if there’s any George Soros money that has gone to ADL.”

ADL director calls Beck’s smears of Soros as a collaborator “over the top” and “horrific”

Foxman calls Beck’s attack “repugnant.” On November 11, ADL national director Abraham Foxman released a statement condemning Beck for claiming, during his falsehoodladen threepart series on Soros, that Soros collaborated with the Nazis during the Holocaust. Foxman’s statement said, in part, “Glenn Beck’s description of George Soros’ actions during the Holocaust is completely inappropriate, offensive and over the top. For a political commentator or entertainer to have the audacity to say — inaccurately — that there’s a Jewish boy sending Jews to death camps, as part of a broader assault on Mr. Soros, that’s horrific. While I, too, may disagree with many of Soros’ views and analysis on the issues, to bring in this kind of innuendo about his past is unacceptable. To hold a young boy responsible for what was going on around him during the Holocaust as part of a larger effort to denigrate the man is repugnant.”

Beck on NY Times report about ADL criticism: “They will destroy themselves.” On the November 12 edition of Premiere Radio Networks’ The Glenn Beck Program, Beck responded to the criticism from the ADL, saying:

After the program last night, some of the executives came down on the floor. And they said, “The New York Times is writing a story on you tomorrow.” And I said, “OK. What a surprise that is.” And they said, “And so it begins.” And I said, “What is the angle?” They said, “Well, The New York Times is writing a story that you are an anti-Semite because the ADL, the Anti-Defamation League, has come out and made a statement against you that you are doing this and what you’re saying is anti-Semitic about George Soros.”

And they started planning on different things — that how they should respond and everything else, and I said, “It’s not worth it, guys. It’s just not worth it. They will destroy themselves. Anybody who watches the show knows the truth.”

And I know the point is that a lot of people don’t watch the show, and the disinformation campaign is phenomenal. There’s a story this morning in the London Guardian, and the source that they use to quote that I’m anti-Semitic is Media Matters. You mean the one that got the million-dollar check from George Soros to make sure that they got me off the air?

Beck: Lawrence O’Donnell’s ‘Socialist’ Claim Is Evidence Of Looming, Violent ‘Event’ (VIDEO)

One more time…Glenn Beck is batshit effing crazy!

Huffington Post

On his Monday show, Glenn Beck announced to his viewers that he thinks an “event” that will fundamentally alter the world is coming soon — and he used MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell’s recent statement that he is a “socialist” as evidence for that event.

Beck said that, in the near future, left-wing “agitators” would foment violence so that President Obama could step in, stop the violence and “save” the American people.

He played a clip of former Clinton pollster Mark Penn telling Chris Matthews that the moment President Clinton reconnected with the country after his midterm defeat was the Oklahoma City bombing. Beck interpreted this statement as an admission that people on the left wanted an Oklahoma City-type event to occur so that Obama could reap the political benefit from its aftermath.

But Beck also reserved time for O’Donnell, whom he cast as evidence that the “mask” of the extreme leftists at the heart of the media and government would come off in the run-up to the “event.” He called O’Donnell the “new, hot loverboy” at MSNBC, and then played the clip of the host telling Salon blogger Glenn Greenwald, “I am a socialist. I live to the extreme left of you mere liberals.”

“But didn’t we just hear that there are no socialists?” Beck said. “Wait a minute — starting to unmask themselves!”

“I don’t pal around with Communists,” he continued. “I don’t know any radical revolutionaries, I don’t know any socialists. But apparently at NBC…it’s not such a big deal.”

Glenn Beck Compares The President To P.Diddy

This is the second time in as many days that Glenn Beck has suggested that President Obama might be assassinated while in India and other eastern countries.  His first rant didn’t quite touch on the word “assassination” but this rant on his radio program leaves no holds barred.

Sorting out the crazies, indeed…

Stop Beck

Based on his insulting rant last year, we already know how little Glenn Beck thinks of India.  But, his latest screed about President Obama’s upcoming trip to India goes even further.  In a long tirade, Glenn Beck worried that “Muslim nut jobs” who think Obama is a “sellout” Muslim might try to assassinate him in India.

And, tooting that racial dog whistle that Beck wears around his neck, he also compared President Obama to P.Diddy arriving with his “thugs.” From Glenn Beck’s November 4 radio show (emphasis added):

Glenn Beck: Is India not a hot bed for Islamic radicalism?

Mike Baker: I wouldn’t call it that. I would say it’s not an unfriendly environment for a variety of people who may not have our best interest at heart. How diplomatic am I being right there?

Beck: I’m not saying the government of India or the Indian people, but those forces are there that are hostile to India which are hostile to our interests

Baker: Sure, exactly.

Beck: The extremist world would love something to happen to the president of the United States in India. Would it not set the world on fire?

Baker: It wouldn’t have to be a direct harm to the president. It could be the disruption of the trip. It could be an operation, you know, planned during the course of his visit. Anything like that creates the profile they’re looking for.

Beck: A bomb going off near the president or near his entourage even would be a huge message.

Baker: It shows a win for them and it shows their ability to operate. Now the Indian Service, you can argue that the current Obama Administration has somewhat ignored the relationship with the Indian government during the two years so far, and certainly the Indian government certainly feels that way, but one of the good things about, you know, the work in the intelligence field and in security is regardless of who’s in power and regardless of what the administration is, there tend s to be a constant relationship between say, for instance, the CIA and its counterpart and a place like India. You just get the job done. You keep working and there’s a lot of work that goes on before this visit that never gets on the radar screen, and that work gets done and quite honestly, maintaining the security of the president or anybody else oftentimes is more reliant on that work, the work that you never see. It’s not the armored vehicles. It’s not the Secret Service standing There it’s not the warships. It’s all that collection and all of the maintenance of the liaison contacts, studying the actionable intelligence we’re picking up and the public doesn’t see that.

Beck: For somebody who lived some place where nobody knew who you were, if you have to get in the mind of the Indian people how does it appear to India, to the average person, when a president comes and he takes 34 warships to your country, 3,000 entourage, helicopters, jets, takes the biggest, you know, the most prestigious hotel and takes all of it over and disrupts, closes, holds portions of the gateway of India and people are losing their jobs. They’re not going to be able to feed their family. This is according to the India Times. How can I lose this business? They’re putting me in crisis. How does this appear? Is this P. Diddy arriving with 40 thugs?

P.Diddy? Really, Glenn Beck?
